Arsenal talks planned about potential signing after £40M news! – West Ham expected to complete another big transfer with Arsenal in the coming days – Arteta free to sign £59m Man City star

Fabrizio Romano had claimed that ARSENAL have ‘already scheduled’ an emergency meeting to decide whether to recruit a new defender to replace Jurrien Timber.

The 22-year-old only arrived in north London this summer, joining in a £40million deal from Ajax, but he is set to be out of action for quite some time.

The defender was making his English topflight debut for the Gunners but lasted little more than half the game when he picked up a knee issue early in the second half.

Timber has been undergoing intensive tests, but the club have revealed he will need to undergo further tests to determine the extent of the injury.

A club statement read: “Further to his substitution during our match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Jurrien Timber has received extensive assessments and scans which have confirmed he has sustained an injury to his right knee.

“Jurrien will undergo a further detailed assessment and review with a consultant in the coming days to assess the full extent of the injury, in order to determine the next steps. A further update will be provided in due course.

“Everyone at the club will be focused on supporting Jurrien at this time.”

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Now Romano has claimed that ARSENAL are discussing whether or not to splash some more cash and sign a replacement for Timber.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “They will discuss that. They have a meeting internally already scheduled to discuss whether they want to enter the market or stay with the current squad they have.

“They will speak about that and I also think they want to wait to understand, with clarity, how long Jurrien Timber is going to be sidelined after his knee injury. That’s why they will discuss internally with Mikel Arteta.”

West Ham plots Kieran Tierney move
It has been claimed that West Ham have now made contact with Arsenal over a potential deal for defender Kieran Tierney.

A few seasons ago – Tierney was a player that the fans loved and that Mikel Arteta really relied on – but injuries have really ruined his time at the Emirates and he has really struggled for game time.

That has led to constant speculation in the media that he is one player that will be leaving the club – with the likes of WEST HAM and Newcastle two clubs that are interested in a possible deal.

WHAT IS THE LATEST –

The Express have claimed that the Hammers have registered their interest in signing the Scotland International to Arsenal for a fee of £20M, which is less than what Arsenal are demanding.

It has been suggested that WEST HAM are looking for an upgrade to current left-back Aaron Cresswell.

The report comes after Pundit Alan Hutton has claimed that Tierney needs to leave Arsenal.

WHAT WAS SAID –

“Unfortunately I think he will be a squad player,” he told Football Insider.

“I think Zinchenko is number one and it is up to Tierney to dislodge him. Does he have the potential to do it? Absolutely. I think he is a brilliant footballer who gives you everything. The problem for him at Arsenal is that the way they play does not suit Tierney’s strengths.

“He is a very strong 1v1 defender who likes to get up and down but I think Zinchenko is ahead of him at this moment in time.

“Tierney has what it takes to get him out. As long as he stays fit he has an opportunity but he will have a fight on his hands.“

Arsenal free to sign Laporte

29-year-old Laporte is looking likely to move on from the Etihad Stadium this summer as Pep Guardiola looks to freshen his squad up, and there has been some talk that the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are all interested.
